Based on the teachings of Judith Weston (Directing Actors)
Back in the early 2000s, Judith Weston, the famed coach and bestselling author of Directing Actors, ran the original Actor Director LAB in Los Angeles for 15+ years.
As an accompaniment to her bestselling books, the LAB was a safe environment where directors could practice her teachings, honing their skills learning rehearsal techniques, script analysis and establishing a common language with actors in order to become great directors.
MANDI RIGGI
Mandi Riggi is a British‑American, London‑based writer‑director of Iranian descent. A member of WGA, WGGB, BAFTA Connect, and Directors UK, she draws deeply on her training in Judith Weston’s methods to guide directors in rehearsal-based collaboration. With experience in both theatre and film, Mandi brings a cross-disciplinary approach to the LAB.
In March 2023, Mandi founded the London Actor Director Lab to continue her mentor’s legacy. What started as a “beta” experiment has now reached its 15th Lab (next starting July 17), attracting directors from across the UK, Europe, and the US eager to sharpen their craft.
